The Liberty All-Star Growth Fund, Inc. (ASG) have appointed M.A. Weatherbie & Co., Inc. as one of the Fund's three portfolio managers, replacing Mississippi Valley Advisors Inc. effective May 3, 1999.

Matthew A. Weatherbie, founder and president of the firm, will serve as the portfolio manager to the Fund. Prior to founding the firm in late 1995, Weatherbie managed portfolios at Putnam Investments and MFS Investment Management.

Weatherbie and his investment team practice a small-capitalization growth investment style which will be used to manage their portion of the Fund's assets. Liberty All-Star Growth Fund's other portfolio managers are Oppenheimer Capital and William Blair & Company.
