Thursday, September 18, 2025 U.S. ETFs Surpass $12T As Their Streak Reaches 40 The ETF side of the asset management industry continues to grow at a record pace and reach new size milestones, both across the world and in the U.S. in particular, according to the latest data from the folks at an ETF-focused research firm.
In the first eight months of 2025, the ETFGI team reports, the U.S. ETF industry brought in a record $798.77 billion in net inflows, up by $155.28 billion (24.1 percent) Y/Y from the prior record. The U.S. accounted for 62.9 percent of worldwide ETF and ETP inflows of $1.27 trillion as of August 31, 2025 (also a new record, up by $200 billion Y/Y). Last month, per ETFGI's data, the U.S. ETF and ETP industry brought in $120.65 billion in net inflows, down by $3.51 billion (2.8 percent) M/M but up by $54.34 billion (81.9 percent) Y/Y. The U.S. accounted for 65.9 percent of the $183.04 billion in worldwide ETF and ETP inflows in August 2025 (which were down by $8.51 billion M/M but up by $52.98 billion Y/Y). August 2025 extended the U.S. ETF and ETP inflows streak to 40 months and counting, while extending the worldwide streak to 75 months. As of August 31, 2025, the ETFGI team reports, the U.S. asset management industry offered 4,480 ETFs and ETPs, up by 52 (1.2 percent) M/M and up by 811 (22.1 percent) Y/Y. The U.S. now accounts for 30.6 percent of the 14,662 ETFs and ETPs worldwide. (The global count is up by 22 M/M and up by 1,985 Y/Y.) Per ETFGI's data, 415 ETF and ETP providers operated in the U.S. as of August 31, 2025, up by 4 (1 percent) M/M and up by 78 (23.1 percent) Y/Y. U.S. ETF and ETP providers now account for 46.3 percent of the 896 ETF and ETP providers worldwide. (The worldwide count is up by 7 M/M and up by 122 Y/Y.)
